In this clip we compare a J colored diamond alongside an I, an H and a G color face up in faux settings then loose and face up. We were attempting to show the most practical view as you'd see it in normal lighting.

  • Thank you for posting . I forgot to add very helpful videos. I have watched a few of them . I will check out those responses and look for one on cut.

  • @Megzm6 Do a search on my channel for "High Optics" and you'll see the clip. In that video is 4 of the 5 I mentioned. The 5th is actually an invention of our own called August Vintage Old European Cut but this mainly appeals to people who prefer the older cutting style but with todays ideal optics.

  • Yeah I know that now haha oh . I found out it wasn't a horrible stone very clear just 4 color grades different . I was naive . I am going to buy one loose and make sure that it it GIA graded G, H in color at least an sI2 or better. I also found out while looking at diamonds the reason why mine looked so much bigger than a .71 is the way it was cut. Well live and learn.

  • @Megzm6 Yep and interesting! We serve a lot of people around the globe Megzm. Have you seen what we feature? BTW I posted 2 video responses to this video that are much better tutorials on this particular subject (diamond color). Not sure if you're aware but we feature 5 different types of rounds cut for light performance.

  • ? i thought that diamonds don't reflect red could be wrong

  • @my0pretty0firefly Yhey do but it is rarely seen. Blue and yellow are the two most promient colors that disperse from a diamond when observing "fire". In this clip though we're primarily looking at body color and as other commenters have noticed there isn't an earth shattering difference when you're comparing diamonds of really high cut quality. To really get an education on this subject see my "Consumer's Guide to Understanding Diamond Color". I'll link it on this video.

  • The marketing of diamonds is spectacular. Kudos to Debeers for their effective marketing campaign. The only company to tell you to spend two months salary to show her you would marry her all over again..... Ice cold stones are just that, ice cold. I really like diamonds for what they are, a beautiful stone, though the love between a man and a woman has nothing to do with DeBeers or diamonds. This pathetic belief created by DeBeers is a sad way to start a marriage.

  • Maybe it's just me and my ignorance... but I cant see a "whole lot of" difference between the two? Is there? Thanks

  • good video but I hate the girls name... lol

  • @Megzm6 Which is why you should *always* have a diamond checked, and loose when possible before taking full possession of it.
