Wonderful review! I agreed with you completely. I've only ever seen a few episodes of the original series, but I grew up on TNG. So, naturally I'm a little biased when it comes to any of the TNG movies. But, this one absolutely surpassed my expectations and I was genuinely impressed with it. I have to give special kudos to Urban who made me fall in love with the character of Bones, and of course the ever entertaining Simon Pegg. I adore him! Great review, looking forward to more!

JJ aka Jar Jar Abrams should stay in TV production. M.I.3 suck, Cloverfield sucked, and now this.

i was really surprised how good this film was. totally agree with all your points, even my gf enjoyed it and she has never watched star trek. though it did kind of remind me of starship troopers when all the cadets had to be deployed and nearly subseqently snuffed it . oh and i love the updated battlestar galactica, prob 1 of the best sci fi series ive watched in a very long time. graham

Great review man. I'm not a fan of the original Star Trek but I loved the new movie.
I loved Abrams' Mi:III myself. Can't wait to see his Earthquake movie. I'd also love to see him direct TF:3 if Bay ever stepped aside. *drool*

Just Watched this film last night. I'm not a hardcore trekkie though I have seen every movie and TV episodes so it was interesting to watch. you should watch Shyaporn's version of this movie. It's really funny and captures the essence of it all!

great review. I'm definatly not a huge star trek fan but i went into this movie looking for a good adventure/action film. It delivered.

I too loved this movie, I was a rabid Trek fan from 1985 To 1998 but gave up on the franchise after some abyssimal movies and some pretty unwatchable tv shows. I feel they finally got Trek back to what made it fun and unpredictable, a feeling I haven't felt since the Next Generation.
