the cow was not drowned i believe. Read somewhere that the horses and cows were led to safety. I think what they were trying to do to that cow was lead it to safety and keep its head above water, not drown it :\

The conclusions to this video is that all the horses were indeed saved.. They had massive wounds wounds from all the debris in the river, and are all being treated for their wounds.
