  • I think you're wonderful!!

I do a small youtube contest on this Aria tomorrow, as part of a lecture about classical singing, i don't know if my class will pick you as a winner, but I'm quite sure you'll be one of the tops.. you are great.

I'd like to know some details if that's ok: what is your name? where do you live? When did you start to sing?

  • Thank you for honoring me by including me in your contest! My name is Ty, and I live in south-central Pennsylvania in the United States. I have been singing practically all of my life. My mother tells me that, at the age of two, I would sing for hours, using nonsense words if I did not know the real ones. I am almost completely self-taught, having had a only few month's worth of voice lessons as a Freshman in college in 1974. Thank you again for the honor.

  • are you a counter-tenor?

  • That is a very debatable point. Some would say that since I sing in falsetto and not full voice, I should really call myself a male alto, although the term "countertenor" is becoming more nebulous these days. Thanks for listening!

  • you need to sing in your mask!and no glottal scoops, those will kill your head voice fast!

  • Thanks for your excellent advice! I have taken what you have said very seriously and I hope to do better in the future!

  • Lovely! As one who has sung this aria many a times as a baritone, I can attest to its difficulty. Your garage's acoustics are better than most concert halls. For being self-taught, it's very nice - my only critique is that you need to watch your attacks at the beginning of your phrases so you're not scooping onto the pitch.; otherwise, it was one of the most enjoyable performances on youtube!

  • this song is already killing me!!! I have to sing this for my voice class/performanc lab.....ugh!

  • Really Beautiful, Ty you have really a great voice, you are a natural countertenor this is nor falsetto is head and chest voice (in this more Head) and this is not falsetto, awesome, congratulations!!

    Magros.

  • AMAZING I need help on picking an italian piece for my college auditions this year. I need it to be like a sad one, like this or o cessate di Piagarmi. It has to contrast from my Little Heart and Die Forelle. :)

  • Omg, I am studying from this same book and I am just blown away! I have to share this with my Italian/English diction class and with my voice teacher. I love, love, triple love it... and I am a bit jealous by the ease with which you perform all of your pieces.

  • BUMP!!!

Your versions should always be on the front page. They are crystal clear in tonality.

  • I love your trills--I'm very envious! It does seem like head voice at least some of the time, btw.
