I learned how to swim when I was nine now I'm near 13 and don't kno how to stay above water .-. This helped me:D

I have been swimming for 14 years(17 now)....never ever have i been allowed to do a dog paddle :))

@lbxgreen You are young, you should go to swimming pool and take some lessons. It would take a while but with practice you will get better. I am 19 and don't know how to swim perfectly, I do 2/3 times of swimming and getting better and also going to get some lessons.

im 13 and i only knew how to swim not long ago :DD but im still having trouble keeping my self up in the water for back stroke,ect cose i gottta push my tummy up im like fucking hell... -.- anyways the first step is to put ur head in the water then kick.
