I survived the Great Depression. My advise talk to people who lived during the Great Depression, they can tell more then those who never saw the Great Depression.

My adivse about Gold, get into an Investment have that Gold in your hand. I remember the Bank Holiday, a Bank Holiday will freeze your Invested Gold, but gold in your hand in a safe secured place in your home or other area where you can get your hands on is a better way.

I live in an area where there is wild life fish, ducks, swans, and even rabbits close by. But our country has restricted the use of firearms in Australia to only a privileged few who belong to gun clubs or live in farming areas and need guns to shoot wild animals. Even then you have to go through a lot of red tape to be able to own a gun (too hard). So unless you can get hold of a rabbit trap, it's going to be really hard to catch these animals to eat when you are hungry. Fishing's okay

the only thing that gives gold its value is the desire of people to have it.

If you are sitting on a pile of food and water, your goods are worth more than gold (provided the stuff really HAS hit the fan, and provided you have firearms and the will to use them).

someone who is starving to death and dying of thirst will give away all his gold for just a little water.

stock up on food, water, cigarettes, liquor bottles, etc.

THAT will be "money".
