@1969MustangMACH1 it isn't that hard to find. There's older ones through the early to mid 90's in ranger, the 2.5's were in the years of 08-00 but the only difference is that a 2.5 is just a stroked 2.3 so it's still the same in escence. And then the duratec 2.3 are still made from 01 - present i believe, not entirely sure but i know 01-05 for sure is duratec 2.3's. They're in the focus too. and if youwant a turbo motor try a stock 87-88 Ford T/C they"re good and ppl often use them for it

How much did you invest and what did you invest in?

@MrToXiC090 the stock non-turbo pistons can't handle much boost, but you could probably run a few pounds with a good intercooler and careful driving. keep a very close eye on the papers and junkyards for a ford 2.3 turbo car, and I would advise googling the turboford forums

MORE BOOST!!!!!!!!!!

Nice, but i know this is a 2.3 but with just a 95 ranger stock engine i think a 4 cyl would u need anything for turboing it? I just have a feeling once i get a turbo i'll be spending more and more money putting into it, i plan on gettin an intake thats just about it, nothin special, already have a catback with glasspack on it, and my friend said i needed a different exhaust, but idk

@Magnuspire Amen to that. It was saddening that ford dropped the lima for a boat-anchor v6 in the mustangs and thunderbirds as well. I want to meet the brains in charge of those changes and give them a good finger-wagging...

@holmd90 Ain't that the damned truth. My stroked out 2.5L with my 3.73 gears and my 5 speed manual is pretty stout for a 4 cyl. It'll pull an S-10 all over God's creation. Ford does some great things, then some bone headed things just like the rest of them. Honestly, I would never give up my Lima for a Duracrap motor.

look for a thunderbird turbo coupe engine, merkur xr4ti engine, or svo mustang engine, all between years 1985 and to about '89, already built for lots of psi, my xr4ti was taking 20psi all day...then i sold it :(
i donno about, the 2.3 is one of the toughest motors you will find.

@Magnuspire If ford had kept to the 2.3, but made it a DOHC turbo motor and just ran 6-8psi stock, the ranger would have been legendary for longevity and capability. Not to mention the motor was already in production, therefore it would have been much more cost-effective to just throw on a DOHC head and keep the same short block. Ford just had a few dumb years when it came to engines in their trucks, so now we have to depend on the enthusiasts to build the ranger ford SHOULD have made
