Explanation:

So, this glitch is basically an extension of the old focus taunt glitch. The reason that glitch works (I think) is because you can kara cancel the focus into any move with greater input priority. The problem is that almost nothing takes priority over a focus - if you try to do an ultra at the same time as a focus, the focus will come out. Taunting is the only move that most characters have access to.

Gen has something unique though. Stance changing seems to have more input priority than even taunts, so kara canceling a focus into a stance change works. Stance changing has very fast recovery, making it practical.

It's not quite as hard as it sounds. The difficult part is timing the focus to absorb the instant you hit the buttons; stance changing during the absorb animation is relatively easy when you time the first part right. It doesn't need to be on consecutive frames like a kara throw or anything.

Everything in the video was done without macros or shortcuts of any kind.

Edit: Wow, a Japanese player found this back in July.

  • yeb, had a question about this

if gen can have his focus outprioritized by a PPP / KKK move then theoretically couldn't Vega and Blanka perform armored flips and armored hops respectively? considering they are the same inputs it seems plausible. I tried to get it to work myself but I don't know the timing so nothing doing. couldn't do it with Gen either. could you test that for me?

  • @joztron No, this kind of stuff is easy to test. If you try to do a hop/back flip and a focus at the same time, you'll get a focus - that means the FA has greater input priority, so the cancel wouldn't work. If you try to do a FA and a stance change at the same time though, you'd get the stance change. Same with taunts.

Stance change > Taunts > FA > ultras > etc.

  • Does it work on ssf4 2012?

  • @petujaymz You are a poor guy who has nothing else to do but to insult people via internet because you are too coward to say things face to face. Not to mention that you don´t know how to write a single word.

  • @heilsebo

cos ur mom is a fat dirt lezzer wit a nigga's dik in her ass

  • @petujaymz Do you know what and why did I post that? Why do you insult me anyway?

  • @heilsebo

go shit on a fat one dyke-boy

  • NOOO VIEJOOO!!!

  • @lolrobtwashlol I'm pretty sure you do not have to plink it. But I just plink FA > Px3/Kx3

It is the moment an attack comes into contact with your hitbox that you want to hit FA. Practice on fireballs. If you need a video, message me and I'll find a way to upload one.

  • @protoman385 no no im sure it works fine. i just have problems with the timing... so pretty much you stance chance and focus pretty much at the same time, right? and its more about timing when you are going to be hit?

  • @lolrobtwashlol Yes, it is still possible. I can upload a newer video if it NEEDS to be proven.

  • @Conkerz03 Yes, it is still possible in Super, AND AE. I am not sure of practicality against normals, unless you have a deep understanding of the game, the normal in question, and the tendencies of your opponent.

If you are serious about learning this...go hit training mode and practice. I use it on wakeup, and against projectiles when playing with friends...but...Remember, Risk vs Reward should be taken into consideration always.
