A person should never try to rescue a skunk from the wild, mostly because it could have rabies, which can be fatal to humans. Harbor pet skunks much like other small pets are kept with information from a veterinarian in this free video on exotic pets and pet care.
Expert: Dr. James Talbott
Bio: Dr. James R. Talbott is a staff veterinarian at Belle Forest Animal Hospital and Kennel in Nashville, Tenn.
Filmmaker: Dimitri LaBarge
Lots of LIES in this video. There are lots of videos on this very website of skunks who were NOT descented who are just fine with humans. And if you've ever even bothered to go on Mary Cummings's channel, she seems to take in her fair share of intact wild skunks spray-free.
Also, rabies is NOT as common among skunks as people are commonly led to believe, otherwise rescue workers would have their hands full. This is a common misconception.
