This is the end of a pretty entertaining moment during our Stoney Creek River, during StoneyFest. Justin came down the shallow slide on river left of the 3rd sister, and side surfed a small hole. As he was hoot and hollering after the successful surf, his boat began to drift backwards into the "3rd sister hole", which is rather retentive, however, he didn't realize until the hole grabbed his back end.
For the next. 2 mins(literally)....Justin was in the largest hole surfing battle of his paddling career. Perhaps, the largest hole he's ever surfed as well. For a good 45 seconds, he held a very good side surf with a high brace. As time went on, and as his boat filled up, he began to lose the battle with this formidable hole - At this point, he was literally...side surfing, as he was completely on his side, with body on the water.... still holding on and fighting like a champ. He stayed in the hole for over a minute that way, until he eventually abandoned ship, making sure to kick himself way out of harms way of the hole.
Hit boat then side surfed for the next few mins, until a someone was able to knock it out for him. Everyone had a good laugh at this, even Justin, as no harm was done and he acquired a pretty good encounter/memory of the whole situation. The next time that happens, he'll have a feeling of "ive been here before" and may know what to do. Kudos on the long ride. It's ashame I only got the end of it. The whole scene lasted about 5 mins.
