InterPlay is an international improvisational practice that uses movement, voice, storytelling, stillness, and contact to create unique cross-cultural communications that are accessible and fun. The InterPlay performance ensemble, WingIt!, celebrated its 20th Anniversary on October 23, 24, and 25, 2009 with a series of concerts at InterPlayce, the Oakland, California, home-base of InterPlay.

Everything that happens in a WingIt! concert is made up on-the-spot using input from the audience and the creativity of the performers. During the concert on October 24th - which was the International Day of Climate Action - WingIt! member, Dorothy Finnigan, initiated a piece about the science of Mirror Neurons and the 350 Movement, which WingIt! members Randy Newswanger, Penny Mann, Sheila Collins, Michelle Jordan, Gretchen Wegner, Elizabeth Mendana and others began improvising song and dance to.

Jubilation, laughter, and joy ensued. :)

October 24th, 2009 was the International Day of Climate Action, a day when all around the world people creatively displayed their support for world leaders, policy makers, and fellow citizens to adopt 350 parts per million of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere as our planetary goal. (We are currently at 390 ppm of carbon and rising.)

It is not too late to turn the tide. In fact, between existing technology and emerging technology we have what it takes to reduce the carbon footprint of our species worldwide. The issue now is political and behavioral. We have to change our intergovernmental agreements, national laws, and personal habits in order to make the change we need to for life to carry on as we know it.

Visit http://www.350.org to see photos and stories of the International Day of Climate Action from around the world, to read up on the science behind 350, and to stay up to date with pivotal events like COP15 (the conference in December in Copenhagen of the UN's highest panel on Climate Change).
