The driver in the white car did one of the worst jobs of driving I have seen on a drag strip in 50 years...listen to me..when the throttle is slammed to the floor..you "NEVER" let up until you hit the shut down area....Got it???...using a "Crash" box or what ever transmission...the shifter is thrown at lightning speed and the clutch is actuated in a fraction of a second..get it right..or get out of the car and let someone else drive...it makes you look ...how do you say...really unqualified!!!.

@grntomato No, I have only seen the '68 Cudas in person, no Darts, and only automatics, and they were not down in the 8's yet back then, low 9's, as it has been a while since I have been at an NHRA event that had them!
