Need a Drummer?
Are you a song writer, or part of a band... and in need of a drummer to record a unique drum part, or perform a composed piece of music? I am available for studio session drumming/recording and mixing. For more information, send me a mail through youtube, or hotmail at Erikolsen275@hotmail.com

A short rock inspired drum solo. Audio Technica 3035 in the back of the room, sm57 on top of snare and toms, random dynamic on snare bottom, 2 sm diaphram condensors overhead, lg. diaphram dynamic inside bass drum aimed at beater. Tascam Firewire controller, cubase music production software. Lots of compression, EQ, gating and slight VERB. the video came out of sync with audio when i uploaded it for some reason. Youll also notice some dynamic range of the toms missing, the softer hits were gated out by the close mics on them, and only came through on the room mic and overheads, thats why the sound is inconsistant. Messed up at the end and a couple other times, but didnt feel like redoing, my friends arm was getting tired from holding the camera lol.

  • How did you get this bass drum sound ? trigger ? or its the compression ?

  • @nickrock12 no triggers. there are 2 mics on the bass drum and one mic in the back of the room that do most of the capturing of the kick drum. One is inside the drum aimed where the beaters hit the head to capture the mostly the clacky attack, there is one just outside the kick drum that captures the tone of the shell, then the room mic has a nice wide "view" of the kick drum and the low end of the entire kit. The mic inside is EQed to focus on a range of about 1kHz-3kHz. The outside mic has..

  • @nickrock12 the outside mic has a narrow bandwidth eq focus around 50Hz. and a sligthly less narrow PULL of around 800Hz. 800Hz is that really boxy not clean sounding bass. There is no other way to describe it lol. The room mic is tuned similar to the outside kick mic. What i did wrong here was i didnt roll off the extreme low end below 50Hz, and the tone that resonates is too pure for my taste. The compression helps keep the signal level and not louder in some hits and softer in others.

  • what kind of drums do you use

    brand? wood?

  • everything i use is listed on my main channel

  • is that a 12" snare? ur kick sounds fat! just slightly over powering, but otherwise great!

  • 10"
