  • You're a slow driver, everyone passes you

  • I was pulling a trailer. California has a split speed limit - 55 for trucks and any vehicle with a trailer, and 65 for everybody else. It really sucks.

  • love it! can i get the music name?

  • I don't know the name of the artist or track, but it's from the video game "Wipeout". Do a Wiki search on "Wipeout video game" and it will give you a list of the possibilities.

  • how did you get your icon like that?

  • I made a short movie (less than 10 sec), converted to a .gif file using media-convert(.)com (also resized it to 100x75 and set the frame rate to 7 fps), and uploaded it as my personal profile picture.

Note: File cannot be larger than 256k.

  • It 's proof that even at the speed of sound, there is someone that will pass you! LOL

  • I need that CD...if I play it while I drive, will I go that fast??

  • The bummer for us Bay Area folks is that Mammoth is so inaccessible during the winter months. I've tried to organize a trip via I5 to 58 to 395 or 80 or 50 to 395 to Mammoth but everyone just doesn't want to endure that drive when Tahoe is "just right there".

Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and do the drive myself so that I can finally say I skied at Mammoth.

  • The fall colors at June Lake Loop are one of the great secrets/unknowns of California.

I took a friend there who's originally from Colorado there in mid/late October and he said the masses of golden aspen looked just like what he remembered back in Colorado.

  • We prefer June Lake over Mammoth as the cabins are cheaper and the lakes of the June Lake loop have better/bigger fishing, plus we usually hike up to Gem Lake/Ansel Adams Wilderness. And there's the fishing at Convict Lake and the Owens River.

We still get to Mammoth to replenish our supplies at the Vons and Rite Aid and we MAY take a shot at the fishing at the lakes.

We're the few San Francisco Bay Area folks you'll find around June Lake/Mammoth/Owens Valley during summertime.

  • Ah yes U.S.395 from Bridgeport. That's our route to our usually annual summer stay in a cottage in June Lake.

Coming over from Sonora Pass, we'll stop and fish the Middle Fork Stanislaus on our way to the Pass. Then we stop at the market in Bridgeport for those big sandwiches. As it's late we stop at the Virginia Creek Settlement and stay overnite at one of the tent cabins and fish Virginia Creek in the morning. Then in the morning it's on to June Lake with a stop in Lee Vining.
