this is an incredible Ani song, and being a guitar picker, I've been spending all morning trying to pick this thing. I cant figure out the tuning? I would love to play it for my wife. I'm thinking its or down 2 steps to Standard C. Help me out! This song opens my mind every time I hear it. I wont try to give my opinion because it wont do this song justice. Pure Genius she is..To Jemma, "we are all polylingual but some of us pretend
there's virtue in relying on not trying to understand"

me too! Very feminist.

It's ok, I'm just glad you're listening and open to her music... And if it inspires or speaks to you in any way, then it has fulfilled its purpose.... But if you listen again from that perspective, you should see what I mean.

Wow, I'd never have known, thanks!
I was being a bit disingenuous there alright, but sure you'll have that.
It's a lovely tune, and a fine song. I like her in her quieter moments. She's a mould breaker is Ani, no doubt about that.
As a man it's not always easy to appreciate, I hope you'll understand, we're all born as chauvinists; we still need to evolve some more, which it is to be hoped we will do, and soon!

Although that may be true.. .she is using "bottled water" as a metaphor for being stuck in the role of a "light daughter" or a white woman. This song is about racism and sexism, not bottled water!

...caught like bottled water... the light daughter...
Yep, we should all stop buying bottled water, not only might it contain light daughters, very stupid of us not to have known really, it's no safer than most tap-waters, obviously very destructive, not to mention the mountains of empties floating out to sea... am glad Ani is drawing attention to this important issue!!
My favorite line.. "we're all citizens of the womb before we subdivide into sexes and shades this side that side..."
