Leo performs a nice medley with the songs Disco & Morning Is The Long Way Home. Disco is from the Clone album & MITLWH is from Ice Water and also as an instrumental version on One Guitar, No Vocals.

  • i may not play any more but i'm 56 and I've seen most all of 'em. Not Charlie Christian, not Django, but Segovia, Bream, Parkening, Tal Farlow, Barney Kessel, Jim Hall, Atkins, Doc Watson...and a dozen or more of the better jazz and rock guitarists.....listened to Huttlinger, Peter Finger, Fahey, Hedges, Peter Lang.....Seen Leo at least 8 times from about 1977 when I first saw him at Memorial Hall in Chapel Hill up to last year when I saw him in Maine. Is, was, and will always be the best.

  • @0ldfinger Leo's compositions are incredibly melodic (perhaps with the exception of some of the tunes on Try and Stop Me) but I dont find that his improvistation is that strong. I've listened to so many live recordings where he goes off and "tries to get lost" but in my opinion it is rare that the result is particularly complimentary or, dare I say, tuneful. I guess that is the reward of attempting improvisation though; you never know what little gem will sparkle in the midst of the maelstrom!

  • I had the the pleasure of driving Leo after a gig a couple of months ago. Wonderful artist and loves what he does; you can see it on his face here. You think of many times for how many years this guy has stepped out on the stage with nothing but two guitars and still lights up and takes us along with him. Great artist and great tape. Thank you for it.

  • i admire you so much mr. kottke!

  • WoW, I lost 10#'s just watching this,...

no wonder I am always starving after a show!

  • fantastic video! Thanks so much. I still get a chill and a smile every time I see him in concert

  • I really enjoy the the seemimgly improvised section at 2.35 in Disco,L seems to be leaving this section open for a little ad lib.Has anyone ever heard Mr Kottke sing the vocal for "Morning is the long way home" in concert?

  • In my opinion one of the great composing performers of our times, all kudos to the studiotrans guys for thier (second!)concert series footage of this "legend"

  • Sometimes he sacrifices melody for technique IMHO....but what a player just the same. Thanks for posting.
