@loganwi104 The only bad thing about the Sammartino/Brody match is that it was 1 year or less from when Graham beat Bruno using the ropes and 10 more months a Backlund wins and the ropes are involved again. Work or not, I just wonder how many fans scratched their heads, and said wait a minute. I am sure that they could have passed the belt from Graham to Backlund without controversy. Even though Graham had a following he was still a heel.

FYI. 1976, Bruiser Brody beat Sammartino. Sammartino's foot was on the rope and the WWWF gave the title back to Bruno and ordered a Texas Death Match. Fast forward to the early 80's, Strongbows beat Fuji and Saito at MSG. Fuji's foot is on the rope, but the decision is upheld. Fuji and Saito however, win the belt back in the ordered retun bout. Wish they would have been more consistent.
