A short video of me practicing. The main point of this video is to draw constructive critisim about my playing. I forget the name of the first rhythm I am trying to play. The notation would be:

H-T-S-T-H-T O-O

H-T-S-o-o-H-T-S

Also I play some Tumbao in the middle of the video. ANd end with a rhythm that I use to help me distinguish all of my tones and to work on my open slaps. Thanks for any advice.

  • Brother your conga is tuned way too high. Rudy Quesada has excellent videos here that teach you good technique. It's a good starting point. watch some of his videos and do some of the exercises and it will help you a lot. Also another gentleman Nate Torres i believe has good beginners videos here. Keep practicing it will come.

  • Thanks for the advice. I have had the same comment arise from the congaplace forum. I have detuned that drum- which is actually a quinto. And I am waiting for all new lugs and heads to come in and I am going to change heads and put new lugs all the way around. Hopefully this will help the sound quality, and later the technique will follow. Cheers.
