Idk why but that ic steamboat whistle is 70 for sure.
I'm 70 is brute and she needs a brutish whistle, and the ic steamboat fills that order.
Btw GREAT cab footage.

It's funny how few people know anyone can get a cab ride there, you just need to get your name on the list, they even have seats on top of the tender deck! It's the best ride in the park!

i love the train because you get views of the park you cant see by walking
-
i hate it that they took away the show

@Engineer5344 Yes, That is a Valve That releases Condensation inside the air pumps.
-
The one on 70 is this video is an I.C. steamboat whistle, but yes, they have a Southern 3-chime step-top whistle.
-
That's really cool!!
-
I haven't been down there in 2 years. We would like to try to get down there this year but we will see. I from Erie, PA so it's not an every day thing that I know what is happing down there. Do you live there?
-
nothing...they are rebuilding it i believe. This would make like 3 or 4 tenders that they have now...Have you not noticed that they weren't giving cab rides or just noticed it and thought nothing of it?...and the reason that the tender was just plain black at the beginning of the 07 season was because they had just rebuilt it.
-
Are you kidding me!!!! What was wrong with their old tender??
-
as of right now you can't ride in the cab. The tender they are using is a new one they got from Alaska. it is a different model then the pthers they have so it doesn't have the shelf that the tender seat normally sits on so until they find a way to put that back in...cab rides are temporarily out of commision.
-
Yep, I have ridden on both of their engines. Never forget it. I'll never forget the first time I did it on Klondike Katie. You can really feel the raw power of those engines.
-
Is that the Southern Railway whistle on #70
On one websight they clame that they have a
coppy of one of the Southern Railway whistle
out there?
-
Next time I go to Dollywood, I want to ride in the cab.
-
You can ask one of the engineer's and they will put your name on the "list" and they will tell you how long the wait will be but I would show up there 5 min before it is your turn (they will not wait for you). When I rode a few years agao this is how they did it then I do not know if it has changed!
-
Just go to the station in person as early as you can and put your name on the list. If it's a slow day, they'll let you do it as many times as you want...
-
How Do You Get Your Name On The List?
Do You Call Dollywood?
Or Do You Ask When You Are At The Park In Person?
-

I've rode in the cabs of both of the engines at Dollywood countless times. We used to vacation there every year for 14 years and woould stay the entire summer. From the time I was 10 I've been riding in the cab at Dollywood. The head engineer Scott is a real nice guy. Just ask them and they will usually let you. I hope to this year and take my son into the cab for a ride.
