Angela Gheorghiu as a wonderful Mimì sings the aria "Donde lieta uscì" in Puccini's opera 'La Bohème' with Roberto Alagna as Rodolfo.

  • I used to think I was a good singer, simply because i could belt out a Beyonce track well.

That was once upon a time...

However, then i found Gheorghiu...... ohhhh, yes, then i found gheorghiu.

To say her voice is humbling is an understatement.

Keep doing your thing Angela, you're marvelous.

  • i love that guy that just screams after she's done singing it

  • @tebaldicallas gheorghiu a phony??? Check out a dictionary to make sure you know the meaning of the word...It might be a matter of taste to you but to call her phony is pure unjustice.

  • That said, I do think that Gheorghiu may be finer in this role than Tebaldi, even though Tebaldi's was arguably the more striking talent in general. Georghiu helps remind us that Mimi is a really lyrical role, and when we hear records of its creator Cesira Ferrani, we are reminded of that all over again. Georghiu, unlike Tebaldi (or the equally fine Callas), aptly recalls Ferrani in her vocal type, and also in her refined and subtle phrasing.

  • This is a sensitively felt reading. I admire it. Having heard by now many different performances and recordings of this perennial favorite, it's evident to me that Gheorghiu is one of the more apt Mimis preserved on tape and disc. Brava. Sometimes, this can all get very subjective, of course, and the furious exchanges here on Callas, Tebaldi, etc., show just how much. Having seen both Callas and Tebaldi "live", I would agree that they were somewhat more formidable talents than Gheorghiu.

  • like it but the tempo is to fast.. it should be like flowing

  • @alexliliryan You are very narrow minded - i bet you can't speak french you are too stupid. Small small voice and her sound is not too pretty either. She is a phony.
