The MG output is connected to TRIG IN to create an endless loop (so we don't need the keyboard anymore for triggering the envelopes). The other MG output is used to clock the SAMPLE & HOLD to generate the random space bleeps. Both VCO's and the NOISE GENERATOR are used to create the sounds. The amount of noise from the noise generator is controlled by the control wheel (using the VCA and EXT SIGNAL IN). Additionaly an (external) delay is used to sound even better.

Wanna try for yourself? Check out the patch settings below!

  • This synth looks like something that could murder people.

  • The MS-20 might very well be the coolest mono-synth ever built, I cannot think of one that looks or sounds more exiting than this.. These clips however deserve a high quality option!

  • @TootAzraq yeah, but at the cost of size... the PS-3300 is the size of a car...

  • @ootheca how about a ps-3300?? sounds better than the ms20 imo

  • @TootAzraq pffffffffffffffffffft as if, minis are the most overrated synth in history. great if your a virtuoso keyboard player, as a keyboard they are pretty good. but as a synthesizer the ms wins all, bar maybe the 2600. and i own the first two, and had in my possession a 2600 for a couple of years. x

  • @narki86 sh-101 looks better, minimoog sounds better :/

  • ugh, right, just can't let it go, you may sample a guitar, and play it back on a midi guitar controller, run it through a modelling amp but it will not in a million years be mistaken for a real guitar. Polyester just isn't silk, fibreboard isn't wood, and a barking toy is not a real pet. I'm sure you can generate some fat sounds on your digital equipment, but the full range of the analog circuits, the mighty scream of the ms-20 can't be emulated.

  • @tetsuoiiii Go on lol you're being a really good participant in demonstrating my theory.

  • @dynetrax Explaining this to you is like explaining sex to a virgin. Sure you can emulate it, but it's *nothing* like the real thing.

  • @tetsuoiiii Called it. lol Thanks for being my example.

  • @dynetrax You don't have to be a genius to figure out that recreating the sound and feel of analogue equipment is all but impossible on digital hardware. Sure you'll get close enough but if you ever owned a real analogue synth you will know the difference. Produce a record and the listener may never hear the difference, stand in front of an MS-20... and tweak that current - it's like twisting a garden hose and spraying the sound all up in the air - how do you computerize that?

  • @SamuraiRacer64 *space-ambient-loop :p
