This is the first charted single in the relatively short career of Karen Brooks. Her last charted single came just three years later. This song reached #17 on the Billboard Country chart in 1982 (WB 29958).

  • I've never forgotten her voice. It is unlike anyone else. Where are her songs now?

Why are they nowhere on CD?

Her music haunts me and I want it back

  • this lady has the most beautiful voice. i was in a situation such as this in 1982 when this song came out and i cried a million tears listening to this. i married that lady that i was in that situation with back then and we have been very happy for 25+ years. we still listen to this song sometimes and cry together. i love you karen brooks.

  • Heard this a long time ago. bought album in thrift store. liked it then , and still. wonder whatever happend to these people. also tina rainford.

  • Thrornback418 It sounds about right, as this song came out in late 1982 because I don't remember hearing it for the first time until January 1983 as it was played repetitively on various country stations and loved the fact that my bus driver listened to country music and would hearing playing on way to school in the morning & home from school in the PM. I was only in 6th grade at that time and gotten into music and songs with meaning.

  • This was one of my favorite songs from the early 1980's. Nice melody and it is a song I relate to in more ways than one as I have had some hurt in my life or know people that have had some pain & suffering in their life, but it is indeed a beautiful song and loved hearing on the radio again & again when it was popular.

  • The main reason I don't like female singers is because they DON'T sound like Karen Brooks! I love her!!!

  • I am a 75 yr. old man and I fell in love with Karen's voice when this was a hjt, then for some reasons the powers that be took her away from the public. She has stated that the music industry was not her cup of tea and I didn't fully understand until I went to a Juice Newton concert after her big hits left the charts. She explained how they had turned their bac ks on her and what a dog eat dog the industry is. 2 beautiful voices silenced for the almighty dollar. WHAT A SHAME! U Tube thank u

  • @ckarenride Karen i use to have your hearts on fire cass. tape until it wore out.I played it everyday.I hope to get another copy someday ,you are one of the best singer's..and thank's for getting in the buisness in the 80's.You gave some great song's!
