The Last battle of Michael Wittmann. For Tank enthousiast, Historians and Model Buildels, there is allways a ''Holly Grail'' in your Hobby.

Michael Wittmann (Dietfurt an der Altmühl, April 22, 1914 Gaumnesnil, France August 8, 1944) was a German Waffen-SS tank commander during the Second World War. Wittmann would rise to the rank of SS-Hauptsturmführer (captain) and was a Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross holder.

He was credited with the destruction of 138 tanks and 132 anti-tank guns, along with an unknown number of other armoured vehicles, making him one of Germany's top scoring panzer aces, together with Johannes Bölter, Ernst Barkmann, Otto Carius and Kurt Knispel who was the top scoring ace of the war with 168 tank kills.

Wittmann is most famous for his ambush of elements of the British 7th Armoured Division, during the Battle of Villers-Bocage on 13 June 1944. While in command of a single Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger he destroyed up to 14 tanks and 15 personnel carriers along with 2 anti-tank guns within the space of 15 minutes.

The circumstances behind Wittmanns death have caused some debate and discussion over the years, but it has been historically accepted that Trooper Joe Ekins, the gunner in a Sherman Firefly, of the 1st Northamptonshire Yeomanry was his killer.

  • @ThePanzerWarMachine World of tanks.. its an online game, they have an event called "Big quiz" going right now.

  • I think German Tank aces' scores need to be put in perspective. A lot of what they killed were obsolete Soviet tanks in the first 18 months of the Eastern war and even when they faced T-34's and Kv's, the tanks were often crewed by very poorly trained conscripts. That is not to take away from their bravery, but I would be curious to see the dates of their kills and whether their kill rate tapered off in the later years of the war as other factors negated their better training and equipment..

  • @suspicious35 Yes, I was referring about Rudel and yes, I know about the ship he sank with his Stuka.

  • @EvilFingers Your talking about Hans Ulrich Rudel? If so, don't forget that he sank a battleship and was an air to air ace in a Stuka.

  • Wow, the 'Michael Schumacher' equivalent of tank busters!

  • @ThePanzerWarMachine LEIB-STAN-DAR-TE in German... and to all english ppl. its doesent sound STAN like stanley - its sounds NO you must correct intonation the N like nnnnn LeibstaNdarte then it sounds correctly in German

  • @NWM11Bravo well the turret traverse of the tiger is not very fast

so it is propably faster to make the main directing of the gun with the hull

    thats what i would think

the tiger turrets traverse needet more than 40 seconds for a complete 360° turn

  • @blueatchley lol you retared?
