The main problem with this is the proposed definition "Large landmasses seperated from each other by oceans". This is not what continent meant when the word originated. Consider the three continents known to the original namers...the Greeks. They knew that Europe, Asia, and Africa were all connected by land. In fact, continent originally meant "large landmass partly separate from another by water, but connected by land as well"
