In 1997, just off the Farallon Islands, a group of whale watchers watch an Orca prey upon a great white shark.

  • Screw Shark Week, let's have Orca Week!!!

  • @SharonLink The shark did seem to be using the boat as cover, lots of fish use any floating debris as protection, but I think you're anthropomorphising the whale a bit. It might have seemed to be showing the shark to the people but it's more likely that that's natural behaviour and the people just happened to be there. Also highly doubtful that the whale had any thoughts of protecting people, just its own pod and maybe getting a tasty shark liver.

  • @sequica Why would you want orcas to kill sharks?

  • Killer Whales are the beast and king of the ocean. Ha! Way 2 go whales!!! Keep killing those sharks!!! Lol. And keep the ocean clean.

  • Damn, those Orcas went after that shark like they were saying to the tourist..."fear a shark? We kill whales dammit."

  • They don't call them Killer Whales for nothing...They are amazing predators...Look up the Vid with Orca Pod vs. the Sea Lion in Antartica sometime...Sea Lion thinks it's safe perched atop a fairly large ice flow.... NOT....Amazing video..Even more amazing is how the whales get the Sea Lion.. The intelligence & team work displayed by these "animals" rivals anything I've ever seen in the human world...P.S. I wouldn't be surprised a bit if the Whale was showing off...It's in their nature..

  • Not available in Canada? I'm not impressed with national geographic

  • Im not really surprised. Orcas are notorious for killing everything, sometimes for no reason.

  • @proscriptus Dolphins are whales, they are all cetaceans

  • @spencerc6 Um....other way around. Orcas are not, in fact, whales--they're dolphin family.
