Digital Story made as part of the exhibition Nga Rama E Whitu : seven bright lights. On at the Tairawhiti Museum in Gisborne from June 6th 2008 until July 13th 2008.

Mark is a reknowned East Coast Ta Moko artist and former carver based in Tologa Bay.

    and watching him carve my uncles

    history and ancestry on his arm nd it was

    unbelieveable just being in the presence of

    him especially when he had a karakia before he started.

    i felt a tingle dwn my spine when he done it

    it was amazing when he finished not only the

    ta moko but hw spiritual my uncle felt

  • Mark is definately one of the leading Taa Moko artists in Aotearoa. As he is from Aitanga a Hauiti like me I will be honoured to one day to have my Taa Moko from him.
