I wish for no one to ever see or experience what we do on a call. It is our burden to bear, if that burden is too heavy, move on before "that one call" effects you for the rest of your life. Every morning after shift is the same, Wife asks how was work, I answer with “Ehh; wasn’t too bad”

This is so true no one but firefighters, first responders will ever understand what we go through when that call comes in. I am a volunteer firefighter myself and my wife has spent some sleepless nights when my pager goes off for a house fire or a motor vehicle accident at 0300. She says "I love you" as I am leaving the house to go down to the fire hall cause she is afraid that I might not return that night.
