www.ProGuitarShop.com - Fulltone Tube Tape Echo
We have the Fulltone Tube Tape Echo in stock ! The Tube Tape Echo is designed to sound like the Market Electronics Tube Echoplex from the 60's, you know, the green one! Sweet and warm repeats with a subtle tape warble that adds a slight chorus effect for extra dimension. Fulltone has completely redesigned this classic unit to maintain a vintage tone without the extra AC noise and tape hiss!

Why a Tape Echo you ask? Because no pedal or rackmount, analog or digital delay can reproduce the warm and natural saturation of a tape delay. If you have ever played a healthy Echoplex then you know what we are talking about.

Is it noisy or unreliable? Older tape delays had a history of being unreliable and noisy. However, the Fulltone TTE is dead quiet. Full tone has reworked the electronics, the tape path, and the tape cartridge itself for smoother operation and less signal noise. They've also handwired the audio path and use custom made tape heads that will last a lifetime. The Tube Tape Echo will actually produce less noise along with higher quality repeats than most delay pedals. Best of all, you have 3 stereo modes to choose from for an extra wide echo.

How much delay time? The FullTone TTE can produce anything from a quick slapback echo to over two full seconds of delay. Featuring a dual speed toggle switch, the user can choose between high and low speeds of operation, which also takes you from a warm vintage tone to a Hi-Fi sound.

Is the Fulltone better than the Vintage Tape Delays?
The AC motors found in vintage tape delays were inefficient and noisy. The Tube Tape Echo uses a servo-controlled hi-torque DC motor and a brushless DC cooling fan. The result is a quieter and more stable motor that is 1/4 the size. Not to mention the fact that these are still handmade in the USA and built to last longer than the original Echoplex!

  • I'm sorry, but for what you would pay for a fulltone tape echo you could buy a used Echoplex and completely refurbish it. There's no way I would pay over a grand for a tape echo.

  • Well, the only thing is that even a refurbished Echoplex is still going to have a noisy AC motor, tape hiss and no stereo options or true bypass. It's really apples and oranges. Personally, I've owned have a dozen EP-3s and they've all failed, I've spent probably 3 times as much money and time on those than this one TTE!

    Peace,

    Andy

  • Alright, first watch this one and then watch the one from way back when, with about 50k reviews. Andy, you've come a long way :)

  • So true. That was the very first demo I made!

Glad you guys enjoyed the new one,

    Andy

  • for real, what happened to "I'm playing on a 65 amps soho????"

  • Where have you been? We had a vote for a new amp. Over 25,000 votes and the DRRI won.

  • This sounds just great :)

Nice work on 'like a hurricane' and '1983' Andy, just love it!

  • How long do the tapes last and how much are replacements?

  • Yer blues!

  • I'd have to disagree with you, a TTE drives the front end of the amp which conditions the sound differently than changing the EQ like digital pedals do. It's as much of a feel thing as it is a tone thing. Digital isn't bad, well, not all of it anyway. Two of my favorite delays (Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay and Freakshow Digalog) are digital and sound GREAT, just not as great as the TTE. It all depends on how much maintenance you're willing to put up with for your sound, I guess.

  • also what songs at 6:00? its beautiful

  • dear god this is gorgeous

  • Amazing Pedal ! Yeah ! But... 1300€ =/

  • wait when was it?? i didnt catch it.

  • 1983, A merman I should turn to be! Nice Demo, awesome delay!

  • Well.... a tape delay sounds much darker and distorts much more quickly than a straight digital delay (no modulation).

But I agree on the whole digital versus tape versus analog thing; it's hype. I can get a similar tone out of my Behringer EM600 with some tweaking, and that is just $50 (and a steal at that.) Unless you play some really echo heavy "U2" type stuff, a tape echo is just indulgent.
