This three and a half hour monumental movie tells the life story of the elderly Daniel Aguila, as told by his wife Salvacion Llamas de Aguila, played by Charo Santos.

The movie begins with the Aguila clan gathering to celebrate Daniel's 88th birthday, but the old man is nowhere to be seen... he has been missing for a decade.

Suspecting that his father is in Mindanao, one of his sons, Mari, played by Christopher de Leon takes off for that region in a determined search.

Along the way, his memories of the nation and his father's life tell the story of eighty tumultuous years of personal and historical development...(source: Eleanor Mannikka)



The main characters of Aguila:

Fernando Poe, Jr. as Daniel Aguila, the patriarch of the Aguila clan who have seen and experienced so much of the world that he chose to spend the remaining years of his life where he is needed most, back to his roots and far from the madding crowd.

Amalia Fuentes as Isabel, Daniel's mother, who defied his aristocratic father and married an indio revolutionary man.

Eddie Garcia as Simeon Garido, a cunning man whose loyalty is to himself and whose obsession is to possess the beautiful Isabel.


Charo Santos as the energetic, courageous and liberated lawyer, Atty. Monica Salvacion Llamas, whom Daniel Aguila met in court and eventually married.

Sandy Andolong as Farida the niece of the local Datu who crossed borders, fell in love with the dashing Daniel and bore him a son named Osman played by Jay Ilagan.

Daria Ramirez as Elvira the kept woman of the elderly Daniel whom his wife never knew about.

Christopher De Leon as Mari, one of Daniel sons who went to Mindanao in search of his father but instead found the true meaning of life.

And it was said that Eddie Romero, the director and writer of the movie, had a very hard time convincing Fernando Poe, Jr. to take up the role of Daniel Aguila.
Anyway the effort is well worth it for AGUILA is a Great Movie with a Great Cast and a Great FPJ...
...Definitely the best FPJ movie!

I watched a lot of FPJ movie when i was a teenager. and this movie too. but this is the only one he smoke. I like the scene begining @ 8:22. Do you have the movie ANG LIHIM NG GUADALUPE.? yun lang diko napanuod. kasi nakalampas na sa cinema samin sa probinsya. pag lumampas na di muna mapapanuod talaga. kasi noong araw di pinalalabas ang movie ni FPJ sa TV , maliban yung mga luma na talaga from sampaguita picture noong wala pang FPJ production. thanks for uploading.
