The turning process I employ is called green wood turning or twice turned. Wood can crack and warp as it dries, what I do is rough turn the bowl from a wet fresh cut log. The bowl that is roughed out is turned 2-3 times thicker than the final thickness will be. I then let the piece dry in this roughed out shape, in this case for 3 years.

Thank you for all of the comments and enjoying my videos. I call this style of bowl "Natural Edge" because I have maintained the natural bark edge on this piece instead of turning it flat like a salad bowl. I like this rough eccentric edge as it contrasts to the finely finished 2000 grit finish of the bowl. It also creates a lot of off- balanced weight in the piece which makes for different challenges in the making of the piece.
