Redd Foxx makes a special guest appearance in the second episode. Unfortunately, the series never caught on. After twelve episodes, it was cancelled. Whitman Mayo returned to "Sanford and Son" and would go on to guest star in the revival series "Sanford".

Create another TV LAND if you have to and keep it faithful.. Oh yea they used to show inside TV LAND..I recorded a couiple of those..they dont show anything like that now. Im 39 and The Dick Van Dyke was before my time so I never knew what they show was like til Nick @ Nite used to show it..

Wow Im really suprised this video got so many hits. 5,000. Amazing. If any hollywood people of people from TV LAND see this. Alot of us say.. BRING BACK TV LAND THE WAY IT WAS..LOL AND OR NICK AT NITE. They has some cool stuff.. remmeber the Museum of Television and Radio. they would show rare pilots and things like that. They used to show Car 54. I loved all that

Hi Mike. Yes I myself would like to see more if that show.. that opening is not what I recorded. I actal got that off of another site. it was an MPEG. So I myself would like to see the show too. If you look ..TV LAND is in the corner. I wish they would show it agian. TV Land kinda sucks now..lol & Nick at nite. Other people have complained too about the channel they dont show the classic shows like they used to

Wow..I never knew there was a Grady spinoff..then again he was very funny on those episodes on S&S when Fred was on vacation or left the show for a while...I'm shocked that it didn't even last long..

@MetalHeart8787 No you don't. They stunk. I think if you search on line you can find the pilot somewhere. Its an embarrassing mess where GRADY gives his daughter's family a painting to hang over their fireplace for a party. A painting on velvet. Of a naked lady. The rest of the show is how the boring suburban family is going to tell dear old grandpa Grady he should hurry up and die. Basically.

@thehoosierfortheUK Sanford and Son had an ensemble of crazy characters then Grady moves out of Watts into the suburbs with his boring daughter's family. The lovable friend became the dithering old idiot. When Redd Foxx left Sanford and Son, Grady returned back to the original show moving in with Lamont. When Demond Wilson left the show a new version was created called THE SANFORD ARMS (converting the junk yard into a rooming house). Grady became a supporting character once again.

I'm a big fan of Sanford and son and I've seen somewhat most of the episodes. Will somebody please explain to me why the Grady spin off wasn't as successful as its Sandford and son counterpart.

@teehonky I actually know Whitman Mayo's son , Rahn. He's a really good guy. He's currently a state representative in the Georgia Legislature.
