"Echoes of the Premiere" - An independently produced visual remix interpretation of XPSD - Cinematography and editing by Antti Pirskanen

I was presented with an almost impossible task to shoot material for two different films with conflicting goals. With only one camera, I might add! I'm pretty sure Kenneth did it on purpose though :)

I ended being torn every single second of filming trying to decide whether to zoom out to present the entire scene or to zoom in to concentrate on all the intricate details instead. I was pretty exhausted after the shooting session, the physicality of the choreography was somehow contagious, even through the viewfinder of the camera.

Over the past weeks I've learned that Kenneth is indeed very interested in stories although not in the sequential story-telling way. That's why I also wanted to disrupt the flow of time in this remix piece. XPSD is such a multi layered work that it can easily take this kind of editing abuse and to tell you the truth, a kind of a fashion statement in editing style. A scripted, polished approach just didn't seem appropriate for the a work like this that is wide as the sky... open for all kinds of interpretation.

Inspired by the boldness and non-compromising nature of Kenneth, this interpretation is, more than anything else, a tribute to this wonderfully hypnotic work and all the cool people who made it happen.
