My main creative interest in this fine art museum assignment was the National Museum of Korea's permanent collection of Buddha sculptures. They were made between 539 CE (Christ Existence) thru the 16th Century. Thye are primarily created out of bronze, iron, stone, copper and one out of clay. With the Buddhas varying widely in height and positioning I attempted to group them together in a smooth flowing sequence; first by position and museum grouping then by size. My favorite sculptures have extra pictures to help identify the details and the grouping the museum had them placed in according to religious precedence, age and size. One of the statues was almost life size, so I attempted a 360 degree view with use of 4 separate images. With some of the grouped figures I took individual photos to show the detail in the figures then a group photo. I attempt to show the scale of two sculptures by using myself to show their proportion compared to a average size human head and a 6 foot tall person.

From this process I have learned patience with my camera and attempting to get visible pictures out of an incredibly dim lit museum. I have also learned that I have a true appreciation for Asian art that I had not explored before. I usually am drawn to paintings, but this museum art project helped me realize a true fascination for ancient sculptures. The detail applied by etching, carving and molds or casting was incredible especially given the age and size in which the sculptures were produced.
