haha you guys suck, everyone ones that bands always record songs in slower tempo at the start to get it right and the live speed it up becouse they can, and everyone adds stuff and take in more instruments, this is exactly how josh and troy want it to sound.

But yes, Songs for the Deaf is music for bedtime; aside from this song. It's just sleepy. It's like they recorded it when they were tired or with a low morale. It just lacks punch, everywhere.
