the reason you havent heard of zombi 1 is cuz it was only realesed in italy, then when zombi 2 was realesed in italy they released zombi 1 in the US calling it zombie 2
Technically, George Romero's 1978 "Dawn of the Dead" is "Zombie 1". Dario Argento was a producer for Dawn and obtained rights for the film in Europe, where it was released as "Zombi". It was wildly successful, and to capitalize on it's success, Lucio Fulic made the unofficial sequel "Zombi 2". It was released in the states simply as "Zombie".
Anchor Bay has released the Dawn of the Dead Ultimate Edition, which includes three cuts of Dawn, including Argento's cut "Zombi".
Wow! Okay, didn't know that. Does Romero have made original versions of 'Land of the Dead' and 'Day of the dead' or are those just spin-offs of the remake? Thanks for uploading this trailer by the way. I love exploitation movies' trailers.
Romero made "Day of the Dead" in 1985 and it was subsequently remade in 2008... The remake was awful. "Land of the Dead" was made by Romero in 2005 and it has yet to be remade (cross your fingers). Romero also made "Diary of the Dead" in 2007, which takes place at the same time as "Night" and isn't so much of a sequel as it is a companion film.
"Survival of the Dead" (or "... of the Dead") is the next sequel, which will be out some time soon.
I found Land of the Dead not so cool when I saw it. But that was a couple of years ago when I found that every movie before 2000 sucked. Man, what was I wrong! I shall watch Land of the Dead again, but first I'm gonna watch Night of the Living dead. I believe that's the first Romero movie, right? It's in black and white - but so was Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! and that movie rocked. If you like to talk more about zombiemovies, perhaps we should switch to PM! Thanks a lot for all the info!
I think Remero needs to sit the next one out possibly. Land of the Dead was pretty bad, and Diary of the Dead was pretty bad as well. I'm not seeing a good trend.
I'd like to see Zack Snyder who did the remake of Dawn of the Dead tackle this next one.
