Smokin' Joe!! my favorite of this clip

Si, una de las explicaciones de su impresionante 49-0 de Rocky Marciano fue que nunca dio una ventaja, siempre estuvo en excelentes condiciones físicas... algo que no supieron hacer Liston, Ali, y principalmente Mike Tyson.
-
Liston only quit, I think, because of the circumstances, not because of adversary. He slugged with sluggers, and outboxed boxers. The Ali fights were special cases; he never quit other fights.
-
@ah93704 I think he should've tried just to silence the critics like me. 49-1 with a loss to Patterson, Johansson, or Liston would earn Rocky more respect in my book than he currently gets. I'm not trying to trample on the man's grave, I just think he gets more credit than he deserves. We all got our own opinions. This epic debate is just about concluded.

@bigmoney749 he could have but he choes not to. I think its best to remember what he did accomplish and not berate him on what he didnt even try to do!
-
@ah93704 You didn't say shortest reach in the history of the heavyweight division. You just said shortest reach in boxing history, smart guy. You can believe whatever you want to believe but I assure you I am not some blue gum jungle bunny. I'm a good, god-fearing white man. Also, Rocky didn't have to fight Patterson, Liston, and Johansson all in 1956. He could've kept fighting for a couple years while they rose in the ranks.

@bigmoney749 When Rocky retired Liston was still coming up in the ranks. He wasnt even ranked in the top ten. Thats why he didnt fight Liston. He didnt fight Patterson because it wasnt that big of a fight for him. At that time Floyd wasnt that well known. Floyd lost to most of the really good fighters he fought. Rocky said Johansson didnt even talk tough..LOL. Rocky would have destroyed Patterson and Ingemar but I think Liston would have given him a tough fight. Especially his long jab!
-
@bigmoney749 Now you're contradicting yourself smart guy. Rocky had a 67 inch reach and the only guy that I know of that had a shorter reach was Tommy Burns, but he wasnt a "real" heavyweight according to your way of thinking, remember? I dont believe you're white. I think you're a black person. You dont sound white at all. Have you read any books on Marciano? Rocky did a lot of speeches, he used to greet the crowd with "I can lick any Son of a Bitch in the house" and the whole crowd would lau

@ah93704 I'm a decent, upstanding white man I assure you and he did not have the shortest reach in boxing history. Also, he didn't do much public speaking and he had plenty of money from boxing and any job he wanted within the industry. He was a ref and commentator for years. Plus, if he fought talented fighters like Floyd, Sonny, or Ingemar who were making names for themselves, it would've been a huge payday.
-
@ah93704 If Rocky was so confident that he could beat Johansson, Patterson, and Liston, why didn't he fight any of them? There was the rematch clause, yes, but Floyd won his vacated title three months after Rocky retired. Wouldn't you want to finish 50-0 with a great prime fighter on your resume? If he fought and beat at least Floyd, we wouldn't be having this conversation, but he didn't. He had taken his perfect record as far as it would safely go and then he ran for cover.
