Governor John Kitzhaber: Oregon leads the nation on health reform

In 2011, with overwhelming bipartisan support, Gov. Kitzhaber and the Oregon legislature passed a measure to restructure the way the state delivers health care to more than 600,000 Oregonians served by the Oregon Health Plan, the state's Medicaid program. The new health system would better integrate physical health care, mental health and addictions, dental and other kids of health care, and emphasize prevention and better management of chronic disease.
