U are right. This doc was showed on the main russian government channel called "First Channel" in December. "American hole" series started since fall 2008. Also Leontiev produced interesting doc called "Great game" about geopolitical confrontation of GB,USA vs Russia(SU) in the last 300 years.

@Alexiscom1 Putting aside the danger to drinking water, shale oil fracking is probably profitable at the price that you described.

@Alexiscom1 Did you see that guy light his water coming out of his facet on fire, from the fracking? CRAZY!

Investors pay for the wells and the shale oil and gas producers get the money for the production. The investors are getting ripped off. They are being told that they will make money later, the playbook response from wall st. People must stop trusting wall st. Natural gas prices are much too low for companies to make money if these companies had to pay for the wells to extract this gas themselves. 1000's of wells have to be drilled to maintain production. These wells peter out fast.

Shale gas and oil reserves are vastly overstated by the MSM. They are talking about oil and gas in place. If they can get 20% of this gas and oil they are doing well. This gas and oil are very expensive and hard to extract. They are drilling for gas and oil in shale out of desperation as conventional gas and oil production are declining. The low hanging fruit has almost all been picked so to speak. There is only about 27 years of natural gas left in the USA at current production not 100 years.

@Alexiscom1 Here 'fracking' is a subject people don't like to talk about. Even people who are normally very environmentally conscious in regards to their land get defensive on the topic if they have oil or gas under their property. In the past there were some bad incidents here. While the technology has improved I wouldn't say it's always safe. It's hard to say to what extent. It someone's water gets contaminated they usually paid off and you don't hear much.

It's interesting how so many people were forward thinking during the 1920ts, what a shame WW2 put such a spanner in the works. To think in 2012 with so much potential advancement at our finger tips we are in such a mess. We need to move beyond our current energy monopoly.
I'm always arguing with oil and gas drillers. They keep claiming that they find oil and gas. That may be true but when I ask them about reserves, sec filings they don't answer. I also always ask them if they had gone back to where they drilled several years ago to see if these same wells are producing at the same rate as when initially drilled and I get no answer. 1000's of new wells must be drilled every year in new areas to maintain overall usa production.

@jimbobubbadj Thanks for your comments. Shale oil looks like an energy intensive mining. If that is prop up by cash flow from selling shares it will end up in bankruptcy unless oil price goes higher. What do you think that the technology of shale oil fracking has improved to make it profitable lets say at 90$ per barrel or even less?

The Eagle Shale Formation (Texas) is near where I live, around 50 miles or away. All the towns there are doing well economically. Here where I live it's so-so, somewhat depressed economically. The Chinese are heavily in developing the shale deposits, they've put in around a billion dollars into it.
Petrol last time I checked was just over $3 US for a gallon. I live in Southern Texas on the coast. We also have an oil & gas refinery here so it may higher elsewhere.

@acuriousbeast Thank for sharing. In the doc they are talking about Chinese shale company with 70B of capitalization but in China they are only after gas.
Texas could become the most prosperous place in the States. Is there really danger with water supply because of the fracking ? What happen with the land on long
term?

@ANTIDALLARD 90% of it is about the FED and how paper USD allows the USA expansion and dominance. How China supplying Americans with goods and with the money at the same time.
I think documentary was presented on National TV equivalent of CNN or FOX. Every body knows about the Ponzi scam now, watch the reaction to take place now. US paper may start fly back to US from all over the World.
What those international USD holders will get in exchange for that paper?
