This is a fantastic exercises as it works your whole body in so many different ways. The idea is that when you go into a squat you hold the position and do 2 punches with the weights. You then stand, squat and do 4 punches then 6, 8, 10 all the way up to 20. Once you get to 20 as a beginner take a breather but if advanced once you are at 20 work your way back down to 2 again. Use light weights, make sure your technique is correct and it is a real burner in the legs and arms.
