Here we are on Track 34 on the Upper Level in Grand Central Terminal. Upon arriving for my train, which had not arrived, which was the 10:56PM semi express to Croton-Harmon, I saw this thing sitting at the bumping block. This is Northern Sky Charters' Northern Dreams sleeping car. This is the history of the car, as told to me by the owner/charter. The car was built by Pullman-Standard in 1955 as a 5 double bedroom-buffet-Redwood Lounge car, originally named North Platte for the Union Pacific Railroad. The car was rebuilt by UP to an 11 bedroom car in 1956 and renamed Star Scene. The number 1705 was added in 1969. It was then sold to Amtrak in 1971, where the number was changed to 2254 and later to 2230 when modified for the Virginia-Florida Auto Train. The car was then retired in 1997. It was sold to Northern Sky Charters in 1999 and was renamed Northern Dreams. The car was upgraded and refurbished in 2003. I for one do not find this car aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but you might think differently. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on November 27th, 2008.

horrible color scheme. if u are going to make a Candy cane then it should be attached to a gingerbread house, not a train track!

Not a bad looking car. Not my first choice, but I have seen worse.

You never know what you will find at GCT!

I don't think the car is ugly or unattractive, except that when standing alone it looks odd, and less attractive. I also think the paintscheme is poorly applied on the "observation end" of the car - the rest of the carbody looks fine to me.
This is the car I told you was in Croton Dave, awaiting the move IN to GCT.
