Sub Standard Stereo system problems. Often times stereo shops will use "Butt Connectors" and or "T-Taps" for installation. When used, they degrade the signal and can cause many random and intermittent problems. In order for an after market stereo to work in late model GM Vehicles, a class 2 interface device is needed to allow steering wheel controls, amplifier, etc. to work properly. An improperly/poorly installed device can interrupt Class 2 Data Communications which could result in anything from stereo problems to a vehicle that will not start. This is because the vehicle relies on a code that is transmitted over the Class 2 Data Line to disable the Vehicle Anti Theft System. Always solder connections.
