24"(Y)x36"(X) effective cutting table (6"Z axis) Made with a Low budget, high ingenuity attitude. Already thinking about generation 2:). Motors are 420oz inch bipolar steppers. Running on Mach 3 with g-code from Cambam. Made with off the shelf supplies, baltic birch, 3/4 thread rod, 1x1x1/8 aluminum angle, etc.

The sign is one of those cutsey wall hang things for my gf. Say what you want, she's happy.

Responses will be rarely, if at all checked so don't get bent if I don't reply within a month or so.

  • No website or blog. Just sold this machine actually and am still working on the hexapod mostly. The big boxy design of the z axis is so you could mount a range of routers to it. Since this was my first cnc I didn't really understand the torque load through the z axis and basically "over engineered" that aspect of it. It is way more robust than necessary.

    Thanks

  • Unique I like it...

You may try a speed controller for your router though looks like it is burning your wood..

I use The Superpid for spindle control, best investment I made on my cnc.

  • @Spydwar

I was looking into a speed controller but jumped straight into the next model and this one didn't receive any more modifications. I've found a VFD and a 3phase spindle is definately the way to go. Although pricy, it is far superior and a piece of cake to control spindle startup/direction/rpm from the machine control software. Worth the extra cost imo.

  • Wow thats a cool looking machine....Is it your own design or did you get the plans off the net??? Where in Canada do you live??? I'm in Ontario..

  • @TimmerBella

It is entirely my own design, the "economy" linear motion tracks are the only thing I took styling cue's on. From a guy named Patric Hood if memory serve's correct.

    Thanks for the compliment.

    I'm in Spruce Grove, Alberta
