Budd Hopkins Hears of New Danger in the Linda Cortile UFO Abduction Case.mov

This is excerpt #2 from the rough cut of "Priests of High Strangeness: Co-Creation of the Alien Abduction Phenomenon." Producer/Director: Carol Rainey. The series of excerpts focuses on the controversial research techniques used by some well-known alien abduction investigators.

Their subjects certainly are having inexplicable and baffling experiences and the researchers do offer the therapeutic, healing benefits that come from any empathetic, willing listener.

But what have we actually learned about the phenomenon? The how, the why, the who, the where, and when? Coming out of the humanities and arts, the few researchers making the most lurid claims are simply extrapolating far beyond what their actual data or evidence can support. The tools used--primarily hypnotic memory retrieval--are also so unreliable that the testimony based on hypnosis is not allowed in the U.S. courts.

This segment looks at the obligation an abduction researcher has to ensure that his subject is trustworthy--starting with the factual details of his/her past and present life history as they are presented to the researcher over a period of many years. It also suggests reasons why both researcher and subject, when their story is challenged, only redouble their efforts (along with the efforts of stone-throwing friends) to speak with absolute authority about the soundness of the questioned case.

Everything in this short film is documented--on videotape, audiotape, and in written contracts between Budd and Linda. Exactly what is it that you are knowledgeable enough about to call a "lie?" If there is some evidence you have that I do not, I'm open-minded and would explore it fully and fairly. If you have no evidence, your statement seems to be that of a follower devoted, by faith, to defending his/her leader. Which is it?

The official, Javier de Cuellar, was the man on FDR Drive, who witnessed the principal abduction of Linda from his car, along with two bodyguards.......etc." Carol replies: Now why remove such an enlightening comment, Olibee? You only had 4-5 factual errors in your missionary position. Please, tell us more! It's lucky I get the original on email.

RIP Budd Hopkins: Let's hope Carol Rainey's zeal to "expose" Budd's work does not eclipse the truth of this man's intelligence, courage, creativity and deep compassion. Carol, let's not forget these people are working on society's margins with little academic, cultural or personal support.

@reelkate1 I'm not certain if that's a rhetorical remark or not. How could I possibly forget or deny the enormous courage, intelligence and creativity it took for Budd to work this way--at the margins? I was there. And he did the best he could do with the tools he started out with in the 70's. Full credit for pioneering. My film is about the need to chance methods of research. Over the past 25 yrs, neuroscience has radically changed our knowledge about memory, if anyone's paying attention.

in this case all depends what one likes to here. and how true some it is. if the money is involved with this it is more then any thing who knows the opinion may be on this about Bud. could I be wrong/
