This has been my favorite version of this piece for over 40 years. No embellishment, no "over acting" (I once attempted to listen to Carl Sandburg narrating and had to turn it off), just the straight narration. Thank you.
@ChuckD2309 they have the record narreted by gregory peck in here on the other side of the record was riots decade 60 by william kraft on the cover cops shooting blacks in a riot when they reissued the record they left the riot off it
A credible performance. But, to have heard it performed -- live -- by Coretta Scott King at Grant Park, Chicago, in the mid-1960's with Copland conducting was for me the ultimate experience.
Thank you for this recording. I had an old 33 rpm in the early 1970s that I wore out on a cheap player. The combination of Copland, the London Symphony, and Henry Fonda can't be beaten.
Thank you so much for posting this,the full version. I had a 15 year old tape I had converted to CD because I could not find the version I wanted,but the sound quality had deteriorated a lot. This was wonderful.
