Bought this car about six weeks ago. The video I put together last week was some repairs I had to do on the car, but this is just a walkaround showing the car itself.

  • I have a 1977 Volvo DL with 743,591 miles on it and it don't leak or burn a drop of oil. This has been by far the most reliable car I have EVER owned. Mine is a 4 speed manual with a switch to put in overdrive. This is my daily driver and I will drive it till it quits or I can't get parts for it anymore.

  • @theyodaman82 That's awesome.

  • Nice, I love this model of the Volvo. Great looking car.

  • Thanks!

  • Sweeeet! Good deal Jake. I like it....you driving it to canada for Christmas?

  • No. I'm sure it would make it just fine, but we'll take the other car. Plus, the Volvo is not great on fuel mileage being so heavy.

  • The Odometer is simple to fix. There is a particular gear that will break which costs ~$15 to buy on the web. There are also plenty of e-guides for the replacement. I did this myself on one that was non-functional for about 8 years. It is not especially difficult (not as hard as you'd think) and the result is as good as new.

  • Got a beige Volvo 240 DL from 1983, it's only ran 180 000 and so far I love it! My grandfather bought it new back in the days, and it's fully original outside and inside (brown/white interior), except for a CD-player and new speakers!! Volvo FTW!:D

  • @85Dethbabe I would own any Volvo with the round headlights that's when they were built to really last. Things started going down hill when they switched to the square/rectangle headlights. Personal preference I guess lol.

  • @MrSponge1985 My overdrive lockout worked but the switch on the stick shift did not. I could do 70mph in 4th at 2500rpm so I did not care to much. I had to replace my tail lights because they became unreliable. That overdrive lock out is crazy expensive as is the fuel sending unit with the internal pump for a 77 240 DL $300 easy for either part OUCH!!!

  • @AmericaDoesItBest I think it was a 2.1L. I know it was a 4 cylinder. Sadly she died on me a few months back. On my home from work I started to smell something burning and then all hell broke loose. The entire wiring harness melted on me. I don't know for sure why this happened but I did some research and found that there was a recall on this model due to faulty wiring.I literally cried when the wrecker came to get her :(. I had nowhere to store her or I would have kept her and parted her out.

  • @theyodaman82 What motor's in it, the 2.3L or the 2.8L, or what? And congrats.

  • You can never go wrong with an older Volvo. Built very well!

  • You have a great car I had an 89. The only complaint is the AC even when it's charged correctly is a bit wimpy. Also be aware of the overdrive lock out they tend to go bad and are expensive to replace * just have it bypassed MUCH CHEAPER* and you may want to check you printed circuit boards on the tail lights they tend to corrode.
