Official 1973 Buick Riviera promotion movie, mixed with images and movie clips of Dutch Buick Rivieras. Title of the song is "Two tons of steel", performed by Buddard.

This original promo movie was bought by my mate Rob Houter, converted into a digital version, and edited by Rob with the music and other footage.

  • I've owned Riviera boats 71 72 73All gone but the parts! My 70 Riviera GS has 100 more HP!GREAT look at the CLASSICS NICE!

  • Ever heard about the new SAE HP ratings for 1972 and newer cars ?

    1970 Riviera GS - 10.0:1 Compression Ratio - 350 gross HP @ 4600 rpm.

    1971 Riviera GS - 8.5:1 CR - 315 gross HP @ 4400 rpm.

(Lower CR to make the engine suitable for unleaded petrol)

That's only a 35 GROSS HP difference with the 1970 Riviera GS.

1972 Riviera GS - 8.5:1 CR - 260 NEW SAE HP. (same CR as the 1971, same engine, but a new way to measure HP)

So where is your 100 HP difference in a factory engine...?

I've seen the video a number of times, but this is the first time I've read the comments. The 1970 Riviera had a reported BHP odf 370!

As to the drop in HP in 71 and 72, the US Gov't required that HP ratings be reported at the rear wheels (what was actually getting to the ground) rather than as previously reported as HP at the flywhell. No actual loss in HP, just the way it was reported.

  • with a RIVIERA YOU can

  • Had a '69, alas no longer. Not much good has happened in the world since 1969, now has it? All downhill since then. Oh, except you can look at films of how great things used to be on your computer machine.

  • Those were solid cars--great suspension. They would just glide down the highway--nothing like them since. This was a fantastic video for a gorgeous car. (If I weren't chicken, I'd get a Rivvie tatoo, too!)

  • wow iiiieee

  • I've got a 71 Riv & I want this song to add to my show soundtrack! Can't find it on napster or itunes though. Any suggestions?

  • great video clip and I've rated it as five star. Please check out my clips on vintage motor car trading cards, 1920s-1950s.

  • great film footage and song! thanks for posting
