  • I wanna study under this guy!

  • What people fail to realize is that Jesus Christ was doing nothing more than convicting people of their sins. He was telling people how perfect you have to be on your own. Jesus is trying to hint to us, we can't do it on our own. He is wanting us to realize that the way we have salvation is through faith. We want a "1,2,3 steps" way to be saved. There is only one way, and that is faith in God, faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus demanded perfection to point out we couldn't do it on our own. We need him

  • @pegcage But also to add on to what the Gospel does, is through regeneration and realization of the love He has for us, we desire to be with Jesus we desire to lay down our life for Him. The works are not a means to, but a result from. Every day I draw closer and closer to God through his love for me. Every day I die more and more to self. Until on that day when I cross over, I will have given up everything.

  • the idea that by our own effort we can completely avoid sin, is a delusion.

  • @applehill How is he using intimidation?

  • Yet another head smart not God smart preacher. Jesus was being loving enough to tell you what it's going to take to follow him. This guy is doing what so many others do. They use a fear and condemnation to bring the congregation back into line. It's preaching like this that causes so many mean spirited people in restaurants on Sunday. They can't help it. People like this have been feeding the sheep bitter fruit. This guy is teaching religion and not the gospel of Jesus.

  • Platt is in NO WAY saying you are saved by works. Not sure where some people are even getting that. He is teaching from the Bible which says the only way to the father is through the son. What he's saying is that if you are not willing to give up EVERYTHING to follow Christ then you are not worthy. Actually, Christ says it...so hate that if you want...argue with Christ about it.

  • @TheNatureBoyWooooo You are right on, brother. It is a false gospel that says we have to work at achieving something. The true gospel is the cross, and resurrection of Christ, and our partaking of it, as outlined in Romans. Only if we are spiritually reborn and have His Spirit, then He perfects us in Christ.

  • the gospel is more than just believing in Jesus. the gospel is also a call to repentance. we could not repent if Christ had not died but if we do not repent then we are not saved. repentance is at its core turning from a life of disobedience to God (sin) to a life of obedience. you cannot do it without grace but if you think you are going to get into the Kingdom of God by just agreeing with some statements about Jesus you are going to be radically challenged by the Word of God.

  • @stevenug You do realize this is the very argument that split Catholics and protestants 500 years ago. There still is an endless argument within protestantism. I get what madhack is saying and I agree. The gospel is what Christ has done for us so that we may be saved, now if we must also add to that work, through our obedience its no longer grace but merit (romans). But if we trulely believe we will be regenerated an naturally do good works as a result 9NOT CAUSE) of salvation.Big difference

  • if your faith doesn't result in obedience to God then its not the kind of faith that will save you. the gospel is not free. it costs you everything. stop preaching this false gospel of grace without repentance, holiness, surrender, obedience. read the WHOLE BIBLE not just a few passages.

  • @madhackertu "Faith without works is dead." "Show me your faith without your works and I will show you my faith by my works." -From the book of James. Works has nothing to do with your salvation. But they have everything to do with your identity. If you are truly saved by Christ, and following him with all your heart, body and soul, you will not be like a man who is given a gift and buries it (doing nothing). Instead you will be a man who multiples that gift by your works..done through Christ.
