The San Jose State Spartans defeat the Warriors from the University of Hawaii, 28 - 27, under the lights on Friday, 10/14. A Homecoming crowd of 24,623 was on hand and broadcast on ESPN, the game was marred by 12 turnovers (6 by each team). San Jose State pulled out the victory, driving 87 yards in the final 1:24 to get the win.
Chandler Jones scored 3 TDs by rushing (reverse), a fumble return and caught the winning pass. Matt Faulkner threw for 366 yards on 27 of 41 passing and Noel Grigsby had 12 receptions for 126 yards. Senior Safety Duke Iheanacho made a pivotal play, returning a blocked XP for a Spartans conversion. Defensive Lineman Travis Johnson was key, blocking the XP as well as a late FG.
It was the first home win by the Spartans over Hawaii since 1997.
