I am another stitched up by the Isle Of Man. I decided to follow a career which meant less money but more job satisfaction safe in the knowledge that my frugal living and steady savings would be enough to look after me and my loved ones in my later life. That was destroyed literally overnight by the Isle Of Man in October 2008. This is the first of a series of clips telling the story of the Isle Of Man Savings And Investment Bank, The Derbshire Building Society (now known as the Nationwide Building Society), Kaupthing and all the innocent victims abandoned by the Isle Of Man. Let it be a warning to all.

maybe someone should have told you that you can open a UK bank account with ANY address? It doesn't have to be your house, just somewhere you can be contacted at. Do you really not know anyone in the UK whose address you could give? As you're not applying for credit, there would be no checks, so you can give them any address you like.

If you tell lies and the bank goes belly up are you sure the DCS will pay out if you have lied when you set up the bank account? Bet that's got you worried along with all the other liars who have set up UK accounts with false information.

Seems to me like you are incredibly naive. You chose to bank with KSF - you pays your money and you takes your choice! At least the Isle of Man has a compensation scheme unlike the Channel Islands. The irish government gave a 100% guarantee but its not worth the paper its printed on. Crap Film hated it - rubbish!Hope it took you ages to make.

Chose KSF?: No. Derbyshire & no opportunity withdrawing term deposit. Situation approved by IOM ''regulator''.

Compensation scheme?: Received zero after 10 months. Suspect no worse than previous IOM bank collapses.

Irish Gaurantee?: Probably worth same as IOM's

Ages to make?: Yes

Crap Film?: Trying to convey a message not win an oscar.

Incredibly Naive?: Yes. Only wish IOM would put "'pays your money takes your choice'' on their literature and stop the ''Parental Guarantee'' bullshit.

Another poignant video warning the world of the perils of banking on the Isle of Man. Many of us trusted the Derbyshire only to be stitched up. The IoM Government simply doesn't care and with their sudden change of mood after initially castigating the UK for stealing the money, you can only imagine what grubby, dark secrets their squalid financial masters are trying to hide. Teriffic video - yep, if you live abroad you can't open an account in UK - and in the Isle of Man we have been stitched up!!! So best NOT go there.

Lots of people were already with the Derbyshire Building Society and their funds were transferred to Kaupthing - a bank with a 'parental guarantee'. Well done for conveying the message - as you say, you're not trying to win an Oscar, just getting the message out: DON'T BANK ON THE ISLE OF MAN!

You're right. The UK Government has done such a fantastic job at giving a huge amount of our current and future taxes to the banks. So much better.

We should have shagged the bond holders first. Then sorted out what was left of the mess.

Didn't really like the film I'm afraid. Bit long for my ADD Ritalin fuelled mind. Could have summarised as:

Didn't form a UK LLP or trust to hold the account but didn't do my due diligence properly. Then didn't read the small print. Now whining about it.

The IOM have handled the whole affair so badly - HMG is the main culprit but the IOMG didn't have the balls to stand up to them. They accepted responsibility and now 10 months later we still wait. Thanks for the Pugwash bit - now I recall who reminds me of Tony Brown!!!
