Harnessing a spectrum of rich color, a strong sense of depth, and repetition of forms, Maija Fiebig creates paintings that transport and move the viewer with their beauty and the other-worldly environments she creates.

Fiebig is currently working with paint and canvas after a period of years working with fabric, glue, sugar, resins, office labels, even cake crystals in addition to paint and canvas. Those paintings were noteworthy for their complexity, richness and depth, and Fiebig is now creating works with some of those same strengths, but greater simplicity.

Fiebig is a Seattle native who spent her student years in Bellingham and now resides on Queen Anne, where she spent her childhood. She is represented by G. Gibson Gallery. www.maijafiebig.com

  • I was very nice learning a little about you. For sure I will watch this video again some time, because my name is Fiebig too. Recently, I've been looking for other Fiebigs in history and around the world. There are a surprising number, and I'm glad to have you counted on the list. Keep up the good work!

  • you are very talented!! My name is Maija too =)

  • How creative. Your art is beautiful. I'm glad Gary shared your video with us on his page!

  • I came to your channel via CapricornArtist73. Your work is wonderful! Have you ever tried using encaustic paint..beeswax, pigment and possibly natural resin (there are formulas online or buy the paint already mixed) to get that "dress in ice effect"? Maybe use the wax without the pigment. Lisa Bebi, a collage artist here in Escondido, CA, uses it to nice effect..she's not on YouTube but has a website. Or try thick gel medium with a just a hint of color..white or whatever..as a final coat.

  • Very sweet Maija. You and your paintings are so beautiful. (How does a ten hour day pulling weeds rate compared to brown dots?)
